That essentially created a massive hype for the game just two months away from its release upon it being revealed in December 1989. It blew gamers' minds away that a sequel was just around the corner and ready for the NES to play. One of the biggest highlights of the movie was at the end where SMB3 got revealed for the first time to North American gamers. However, in actuality, the movie was nothing more but a 100-minute commercial for placement ads to Universal Studios theme park and other video games. The story revolved around a kid's younger brother being a Nintendo master who competes in a huge video game tournament. As a movie called The Wizard was released in December, plenty would get a huge surprise at the end of the film. During the year of 1989, many were unaware a third title was released in 1988 on the Famicom in Japan. ![]() What’s been said many times will be stated again, this game's awesomeness will beat a gamer's ass so badly that they will beg for more. One of Nintendo's legendary games that set the bar for platformers was SMB3 which is often called the NES’s crown jewel.
